Xense is seeking a Mechanical Engineer.
Person applying for position should perform and excel in the following duties/responsibilities:
· Designing metal chassis and plastic molded enclosures for housing various electrical subsystems, including the mounting of multiple controllers/PCBs, power supplies, and other auxiliary devices, such as keyboards/keypads, cameras and sensors, as well as panel-mount connectors, switches, and indicators
· Designing plastic overlays, to be recessed in above chassis/enclosures
· Designing mechanical subassemblies based on the requirements of the company
· Designing labels to be affixed to chassis/enclosures or system panels
· Providing the underlying structural design for a design from a Surface “A” Engineer
· Collaborating with management and fellow engineers to improve and optimize the overall system mechanical design(s)
· Developing CAD project drawings for above designs, for manufacture and assembly by outside suppliers
· Developing CAD project drawings for electrical cable assemblies, based on the requirements of the company, for manufacture and assembly by outside suppliers
· Presenting design plans to management and vendors/suppliers
· Producing other related technical documents that the company requires
· Conducting mechanical product testing to verify design requirements
Other requirements:
· Minimum of 2 years professional experience
· Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred
· Experience with various materials (metals, plastic, composites), in order to recommend best material for a particular application requirement, based on the properties of the material (i.e. electrical/thermal conductivity, heat resistance/tolerance, reflectivity, etc.)
· Experience with various material coatings, in order to recommend the best material coating for a particular application requirement, based on the properties of the material/coating (i.e. electrical/thermal conductivity, heat resistance/tolerance, reflectivity, etc.)
· Experience with various adhesives, which may be used to secure system components, cables, labels, etc.
· General knowledge in math/science
· Skills in product design
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· Attention to detail
· Strong knowledge in standard CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, etc.), and ability to export/import CAD files to/from other Mechanical Engineers, in order to promote collaborative efforts
